Eybrows..and More!

I said I would write about eyebrows, or how to apply them if you’re like me and they have DISAPPEARED!  As promised, here goes.  I hope I help anyone in need, and believe me if you don’t have any or they are thinning you NEED this.

A while ago I noticed that my eyebrows had thinned on the ends.  This seemed to create an appearance of perpetual anger..or so I was told.  Now, I do not get angry a lot, but when I do believe me the last thing someone will notice are my frickin’ eyebrows.

If the eyes are the windows to your soul, then think of your eyebrows as the “frames” to those windows.  We wouldn’t want to skimp there now would we?  I know I sound kind of sarcastic, but really, the LAST thing I wanted to worry about were my EYEBROWS.  Unless I am trying to get off of the phone with my ex husband, then plucking my eyebrows becomes REALLY important REALLY fast.  Yes, I still have to pluck a few strays even though they are thinning.

Now, I am blonde, really, so finding the right shade was important.  The last thing I wanted was to look like I painted my “angry eyes” on, or look like I was perpetually surprised.  I needed something that looked natural and matched the color, dark blonde, as close as possible.

My sister took me to Sephora.  It was my first time there.  It is a wonderland.  An expensive, I never want to go there again, wonderland.  The nice lady with 14 layers of foundation that literally cracked when she smiled told me she could help me find the perfect product.  I’m thinking “Oh God..pleeeaase ..don’t let me leave here looking like the circus”.  Turned out she was so sweet and really knowledgeable about what I needed.

I started with a pencil..no go.  I looked like someone out of a silent movie.  Then we moved on to a wax/powder combination.  She instructed me to tweeze correctly and to always brush the hair UP, not sideways.  We went with Urban Decay’s Brow Box in Honey Pot.  There is a tiny drawer in the box of wax, and two shades of dark blonde, one lighter one darker.  We went over my eyebrows with a bit of the wax with this really cool tiny slanted brush..I’ll get to the brush in a minute…don’t panic.  Then she picked the lightest shade, showed me to angle the brush and went to work.  The first time it was too light.  She mixed both colors and I looked in the mirror..OH MY GOD!  The difference was really amazing.  My eyes popped and you could see my FACE, really it was that much of a difference.  I needed length, and to fill in a scar that goes right through my right eyebrow.  Adding length where there is no hair is tricky because the color HAS to be perfect.  I guess I got lucky!  You can figure out how long they should be by ..well just youtube it, I can’t explain it..I just know if you are like me then you need to do this, go have someone HELP you!

So, I silently ask myself as I’m sitting there “How much is this going to set me back?” “I can’t turn back NOW, omg..if these eyebrows are $200 bucks I’m going to CRY.” All of those things ran through my head.  The Brow Box was around $30 something with tax.  Now, here’s where they get you..THE BRUSH.  The frickin’ A$$ brush was more than the Urban Decay Brow Box, which by the way comes with tweezers AND a brush.  The tweezers and brush are small..like for faeries small.  Tinkerbell would love them.  BUT they WORK!  I bought the $40 brush anyway, but take my advice, if you get the Brow Box, just use that brush.  My $40 brush lasted..wait for it…4 DAYS before it frayed AND it had a cap that you have to be a rocket scientist to figure out.  So now I use the small one, it works just as well.  Save your money.

I hope this helps anyone that was in my situation.  I don’t leave the house without my “eyebrows” now.  It makes me feel good.  This is one of those things where people tell me I look great and “What  is different?”  Since they don’t KNOW and don’t notice I have “eyebrows” on, I know I did it right.  I categorized this under “Em’s projects” also, because it really was a project.  My sister and daughter, very honest, kept telling me in nice..then not so nice ways that I needed some serious help in the eyebrow department.

I plucked MJ’s once, years ago.  She had never done it before, not that she needs it, beautiful full BLACK eyebrows all long and shit, no uni-brow..whatever..anyways, I did it, it was painful, she bled a bit here and there (sorry), but it was really cool when I was done..and after the swelling went down.  The natural shape of her brows came out and I thought she looked amazing!  Even her dad liked it!  Which is saying a lot.  She doesn’t need it, but it was fun at the time.  NO, she doesn’t have giant eyebrows or anything, I was just messing around.  She really is a natural beauty so it wasn’t actually necessary, but I must say..I still want to go after her every couple of years when I see her..just to mess with her.  She usually runs.  She’s FAST!

Take Care All, Happy Eyebrows!  P.S. Don’t forget the mascara, and the Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel, oh and the BB cream..that’s the “more” part.  Defer to other post..”My Biggest Beauty Secret”
