Great Beauty Mask!

I know it’s Thursday, but I forgot to post yesterday about beauty.

I have found a WONDERFUL beauty mask.  My sister found it on Pinterest, and we have all been using it since.

It’s so easy it’s stupid.

Pour some honey in your hand, like 3tbsp, shake a bunch of cinnamon on the honey like 1tsp,  now put about 1/2 tsp of ground nutmeg on it and smush it all together.

Put it all over your face, don’t rub too hard.  The cinnamon will tingle, may even sting a bit.  Stay AWAY from your eyes and lips.

Leave on for 20 minutes than rinse off.  Your face will look great and feel incredibly soft!

I noticed after I rinsed it off that the red spots on my face were redder, but it only lasted a few minutes.  When I put moisturizer on after (do this) I couldn’t believe how soft my skin was.  The softness lasted two days.

Ok, this recipe may seem totally lame, but it’s REALLY good!

I swear I’m not trying to get out of a recipe post.  It’s just easy.

The pic is weird..I know, but it was creative.

Take an apple, any kind

Slice in half and core

Put some butter on it

Put some brown sugar on it

Put some cinnamon and fresh nutmeg on it (if you have fresh nutmeg, I don’t..just made that up)

Repeat with other half

Stick the apple halves in the microwave for about 30 seconds, check the apple a few times.

It will come out tasting like apple pie.

I know, bake it if microwaving an apple sounds sketchy, but in a hurry this tastes great.  I won’t say it’s extremely good for you..but hey..it’s not deep fried..wait..wait a minute, just kidding.Image

Gluten-Free, Apple-Cinnamon Baked Oatmeal Goodness

The first time I made this, I followed the directions from the original recipe at Money Saving Mom.  Awesome site, by the way, if you’re into couponing and saving money in general.  She also regularly sends out collections of homeschooling freebies from other sites.

This past weekend, I made this again but added apples.  It turned out even yummier.

Here’s what I made:

1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
3/4 cup brown sugar (I know!  I’m still trying to find a sugar alternative that isn’t ridiculously priced.)
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 1/4 cups whole milk
3 cups Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Whole Grain Rolled Oats
3 organic Gala apples, peeled, cored, and sliced thin.
Coconut oil

1.  In a large bowl, beat eggs, sugar, and butter together.

2.  Add baking powder, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.  Mix thoroughly.

3.  Carefully stir in milk and oats.

4.  Grease a 9×13 glass dish with coconut oil.  Layer apple slices in the dish.  Pour oats mixture evenly on top.

5.  Cover and refrigerate overnight.

6.  Preheat oven to 350F degrees.

7.  Bake for 35-45 minutes.

That’s about as creative as I got, but I’ve read about many other add-ins: bananas, raisins, nuts, berries, etc.
