I Pulled Off The Birthday!!

I did it!!  I can barely believe it.  We worked SO hard.  Not only did people call to say what a great time they had,  but also to tell me how beautiful the house was.  After they commented on Val being so great, and her two “dad’s” being so great.

Yeah, I’m drinking in those pics..lol.  Jason, Val’s dad (you can totally see which one he is) went on a “beer run”.  Mark is the tall one.

Jason is standing on a chair..lol.  They did that together.

Here’s Val and her zombie pencil toppers.  Gotta have zombies.

I can’t believe she is 15 already.

That’s my mom on the right, my sister Nichole, my nephew (her and Mike’s son) Quentin and Mike on the end.  It was awesome to have everyone!Image

Closest to you in the pic is Val’s “Poppop”( Jason’s dad), Helen (Poppop’s girl), Mark’s mom Marylin and Mark’s dad Don.  Yep!  All two of her families!  Mark’s dad, Don, is the one that works on our house with Mark EVERY day and weekend.  I thank God for him.  Poppop has a special bond with Val that began literally in the delivery room.  Yeah, EVERYONE was in the room.  I was pretty sure I was going to die, so I wanted to see everyone.  That’s why I only have one kid..lol.Image

Had to get my dad Tom in there! As I’m reaching for my drink..lol.  Mark is behind me.

This is a PIECE of art Valarie’s friend Aja drew.  Her mom and I are so close.  Her daughter is 14.  This made us all tear up.  I cried more than once.  I am still getting phone calls about this.  She said “Everyone should have a picture of what they really look like.”  It has become one of Val’s most prized possessions.  It is really incredible.  Yes, her mother is totally all over this talent!  I look at it every day.  It also helped Val in the self-esteem issue she has been having.  Yes Val.  You are beautiful, and smart and …well the picture says it all.

Finally, the most important.  Valarie, me and her father.  I picked a great dad.  She knows she is first and we put our differences aside for HER.  It makes us better parents and better people.  We laughed so hard.  Jason was making us make faces.

I am so proud of my daughter, my family.

I love everyone so much.

Here’s to a rich life full of love and family.

MJ, wish you were here.

My Dad The Artist

My dad is amazing.  He is my step-dad only because he came into my life when I was 11.  Other than that he is MY DAD!  He has been there for me through everything.  Even the things that happened before he was my dad.  He couldn’t have come at a better time.  Without him I don’t know where I would be today.  He gave me love, tough love when I needed it and safety.  He has given me more than I could possibly list, most importantly he became my father.

Now my dad is NOT someone you would mess with.  He is a big guy and when he get’s angry he looks like he is going to eat you for dinner.  He’s a Harley man, a Vietnam Vet, and has been at his job for 40 years!  A long time ago he showed me a photo of him from when he came back from Vietnam.  He had long black hair and looked like … well again, he would eat you for dinner.  It was his experiences and wisdom that helped me become a police officer.  He wasn’t real excited to have his daughter out there in the line of fire, but he supported me no matter what.  A certain relative saw me as the “enemy” and having my family, especially my dad back me up was really what I needed to make it.  Dig deep, pull myself up by my boot straps and conquer the world!

My dad makes fairy wings, scarves, pottery, and sculptures.  Yes, I said fairy wings.  I don’t have a pic of them with me right now, but they are AMAZING!  They are huge, he made a type of harness to attach them to your shoulders and back.  The way he made them actually makes you feel like you have wings!  When you move, they move with you.  I wear a pair every Halloween and every time someone asks where I got them.  I tell them “My dad made them.”  They always look at me wide eyed and sometimes laugh.  I am often asked how much they are.  I am so in love with the wings, there are only 3, that I can’t give them up.  I’m like “Sorry, you can’t have them.”  I should apologize to all of those little kids this year..lol.

My dad  recently made me a scarf that is more like a stole.  He made it on a loom.  He even made the loom!  I love this and wear it ALL of the time.  He has made about 4 or 5 of these particular ones, and there is nothing out there like them.

He also made this dragonfly (pic) and a few other dragonflies for their yard.  He used chicken wire, a mixture of cement and a lot of imagination.  The end of the tail is actually a Swarovski crystal.  They are really beautiful.

I am so proud of my dad.  A man of many talents.

The best one is being a father to his kids.

Thanks Dad, I love you!

The Recipe That Could Get Me Killed

This recipe is not only dangerous because I may piss off some Italians and probably more than a few Texans, but it is so unhealthy if I ate it on a daily basis I would probably drop dead from a heart attack.

Now, before you come after me with pitch forks and ropes, know that my step dad, who is my FATHER introduced me to this when we didn’t have a lot of money.  Actually we had about $6.00 at the time.  My dad came along when I was 11.  I can’t even remember a time when he wasn’t my dad.  I love him so much.  Every now and then, and I mean like once a year, I’ll make this in honor of my dad.

Here goes:

One can of Franco American Ravioli

One can of Nalley Chili, spicy or not, whatever your preference

Mix them together in a pot

Heat and serve

I thought my dad was a genius..hey I was like 12 at the time!

Enjoy if you dare!
